Eat, Drink, and Be Gorgeous.

Don’t you love it when you find the perfect birthday present for someone?

My best friend Lauren’s birthday was last month and I knew it had to be good… had to be original. First of all, I don’t see her nearly enough anymore since she is enrolled in med school while I am completing my engineering degree and we are at two different colleges.  Secondly, she deserved something pretty and fun. Well all it took was one trip to my favorite store downtown Petoskey to find this book:
Eat, Drink, and Be Gorgeous will:
- Teach you how to have fun, go out, and be healthy—all at the same time
- Show you how to put the fun back in eating and avoid restricting yourself
- Get your groove back in the sack and get your mojo going
- Tell you the secrets of the nutritional it girls…and how they can help you
- Teach you what vitamins are right for you
- Empower you with the secrets of how to recover from a nasty hangover
- Help you realize that life is too short to be on a diet the whole time!

Last night I got a text & picture from her saying, "I just got back to my apartment and found my birthday present in my mailbox and I love it {except I cut my finger opening the box}" and how it makes the perfect coffee table book. I couldn't agree more! I wanted to give her something that she could giggle to while reading yet still be doctorly. {Is that even a word because it makes sense in my mind.} Its a nutritionist's guide to living well while living it up! How perfect for a 23 year old girl who needs to let go everyone once and awhile from the stress of med school and textbooks?!
Also, in the package was a little white box that held a Petoskey stone. This is Michigan's state rock... sounds lame I bet, but you can only find them literally in my front yard on the shore of Lake Michigan. So about a month ago I went out looking for some {hard thing to do in the summer months because all the tourists STEAL them} but I found one. I got it polished and wrapped up ready to be sent to Ohio. I figured it is something she can use even as a paper weight on that desk she never leaves and still remember me! Plus, I am a sucker for unique gifts.
I love birthday shopping and luckily my other best friend... Emily at Live, Laugh, and Shop turns 21 at the end of this month. Ohh the ideas are reeling in my head of what to get this little lady. I already picked up a few things this past weekend - Can't say what because she stalks my blog BUT be looking out for that post later on.

Anyone else enjoy other people's birthdays more than your own? Any good birthday presents you've gotten your besties? I wanna know!

I do stalk your blog and I'm turning 20 my love - but you knew that so it must have just been a typo. Love Lauren's gift and I'm sure she loved it to considering she sent me a four page email on how to eat well once :) Miss you!!!

I have never seen a rock like that! So pretty!
And finding the right gift for someone and seeing their excitement can make you feel so good :) Last year, I made a Photobook on Snapfish for my best friend and she loved how personal it was.

I was just on a hunt for a light book to read. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I can't wait to order it.

I think the rock idea is just too sweet for words. I wish I had known about it last year, when I vacationed in Michigan. Darnet lol Maybe next time :D
