{My Friday's Fancies}

So yesterday’s post was about the boy’s Halloween costumes… Well now it’s time to premiere to the blogging world my Halloween costume this year.  Thanks to a link up with one of my favorite blogs, {long distance loving}, I get to see what everyone is becoming for the night.
… Drum roll please …
I have decided to be Rosie the Riveter from the WWII poster telling women to join the work force. Of course I put my own spin on it... I mean come on, how do you know if Rosie isn’t sporting a pair of red high heels?
So what is everyone being this year? I’d love to know… Girl power!

Boys at Halloween.

Halloween is fast approaching and I am trying to get the boy to pick out a costume already. I knew he would leave it to the last minute if I didn’t get on him about it. So yesterday we spent the day brainstorming and laughing at possible Halloween costumes. Of course, I started with ideas of celebrities I am attracted to… {Is that bad?}

My idea - Mac Miller:
a.k.a. My favorite rapper out there. He is my guilty pleasure. All the boy would need is sunglasses, a snapback hat, and a t-shirt. That’s about as easy as it gets…

His idea – Gorilla Suit:
Enough said. No way. First of all that’s just really scary and secondly, I am not dancing with a ball of fur all night.
Meeting at the middle:
My best guy friend called to say “I am going to need your help. I want to be Gilligan for Halloween.” Instantly I said “Yes, I’ll help… as long as you need a Skipper.” BOOM! Now the two men who mean the most to me in my life are a duo!
So now I am officially on the Halloween Costume Making Committee. It’s amazing how much I found already and all it takes is just  a few tweaks here and there to make it come together. So here’s what I want to know. What are you guys being? And more importantly what is your hubs/boyfriend/guy friend going as? Nothing like boys on Halloween!

Weekend Recap.

Well this weekend was full of sports, sports, sports, sports, sports… and that is not an over exaggeration. I honestly feel like my life is documented by who the people are in my life and which sport they are partaking in that day/night. Good thing I always find a way to make it fun!
Friday was dedicated to my brother’s football game, which was in Rockford, MI. I realized from being in this town for 5 minutes that maybe someday I’ll live there {with my future husband and 5 boys who all play hockey.} They have a huge high school with a football stadium that is gorgeous.. litterally looks like a college statium. But on the other hand, their downtown is so small and charming. I loved it even more when we happened to find the best place for a few beers and dogs before the game. Its called the Corner Bar and they even have a Hot Dog Hall of Fame, that if you eat 12 of their coney dogs you get your name on the wall. Look how cute:
Mmm Chicago-Style dog.

Even won $1 from the Pull-Tab Machine in the bar. Winner, winner!

The "little" brother {#8} scored 2 touchdowns during the night. So fun to watch!

Sunday was spent mostly on the couch... recovering from a night of dancing and adult beverages with the boy and these little ones seen below. Of course we were watching... SPORTS! {Detroit Lions game was on.} The guy I am seeing has a pug named Lola, who over the past few months I am becoming seriously attached to… It’s crazy. The other pug in the picture is his mom's pug, Sidney, who he was dog-sitting for the weekend. The only time they weren't snuggling with us on the couch was when this picture was taken and I had to quietly sneak to take it. Stinkin' adorable.
Want to know something else that is crazy?  I have a Lola too. How weird is it that we both have Lolas that are 5 years old? Our next date we are planning on bringing our dogs with us... It can be a play date for us and our dogs. Haha I am so cheesy, but has anyone ever done that?
Please tell me I am not crazy!

It's One of Those Days

I got my paycheck this morning and I am already planning on how to spend it... Also, since I am going on a little trip tonight to southern Michigan to watch my brother play football, I need something to take my mind off of the BIG game… so why not stalk Pinterest? Well here are few of my morning pins. My goal is to make a few of these things happen...Get inspired!
Give myself a manicure with this color!

Love this look.

Make this!
I melt when I see this... hoping my wedding day is exactly like this.

Buying a blazer this weekend!

Hockey outfit for Sunday? Yes please.

Enjoy many Diet Cokes this weekend.

Throw a tailgating party for my beloved Detroit Lions!
I swear that Pinterest makes any day much better. Anyone else bingeing on pins and boards? How about finding inspiration to tackle a few things this weekend? I want to know!

Tis the Season... To Be Scared.

I am one of those bizarre people who love to be scared. Nothing tops a good scary movie or a haunted house… Thankfully for me, I found a boy who loves it as much as I do. Now it’s become a competition of sorts as we come up with things for us to do on date nights that will prove whose the strongest/bravest. This little journey of ours is about to be kicked up a notch as this week and weekend are chock full of scary events.
Tonight after his hockey game, we will be plopped down on his couch watching American Horror Story on FX. I can’t say enough about this show! It’s brilliant and weird and scary and wayyy beyond normal. It has so much promise and I hope it doesn’t let me down anytime soon… Especially since it’s now become “our” thing to watch the episodes together next to the fireplace.

Plus, I love love love Connie Britton. Ever since Friday Night Lights {one of my favorite shows of all time}, I have been a huge fan of hers. She is amazing in this show. Who would have thought she would be perfect for this role on the show? Anyone else watch?!
Tomorrow night…after another one of his hockey games… we have midnight tickets to the premiere of Paranormal Activity 3! These movie tickets were a gift that was JUST handed to me an hour ago. The boy is taking this whole Halloween Scare-a-thon seriously. So I will let you know how that goes… but after the first 2 movies, I can’t see why this one won’t be as bizarre and off-the-rocker like the others.
I love Halloween season…. Something about all the ghosts, demons, blood, gore, and the fact that all of this is okay for one month out of the year. We are sure living’ it up!
Anyone else like being scared? Seen any good horror movies lately? I want to know!

Weekend Plans.

Only 9 hours of work left until I get to yell “it’s the weekend.” Then the craziness starts.

Things to do:
Get the iPhone 4S. My phone has had a great run and now it’s ready to be upgraded. I am very excited about this since lately my phone decided it’s too weak to power my apps or allow me to have long conversations. Out with the old and in with the new!
I will be ordering these puppies in a few minutes once my paycheck is deposited. Red and white TOMs! Love love love. Pretty fitting for my beloved Miami Redhawks and Detroit Red Wings. I think its the perfect hockey shoe while the boy thinks I am crazy because they don't "look warm." He should know by now that cuteness over warmth!
My little brother has a football game tonight… ohh and its homecoming and he’s on the court! VOTE FOR JOE! It’s crazy that he is a senior and got his pictures back yesterday. Makes me feel old.
Joe hugging the ball after his game-winning interception last week.
Date nights. This weekend will be full of dates with the boy. He told me last night that “I have to get in my Sarah-time right now because once winter hockey season starts (next week) I won’t be around much.” It’s true. He will be playing games 3 times a night while also being the referee for the other teams’ games. Goodbye boy, goodbye.

So what’s more romantic and a perfect date then a haunted house an hour away? Every October in Wolverine, Michigan a company hosts the scariest haunted house ever. I haven't been in 3 years, so I know it will creep me out like the first time I've gone. They even added a haunted swamp behind it... Yikes. This girl's biggest fear is getting lost in the woods so I can only imagine how much I will freak out once I am being chased through the woods.
Lastly, my best friend sent me this card in the mail and I nearly died laughing. It’s sad but true. I am getting it framed due to the fact its kind of a rule I live/date by.
With that note, I am going to crank out hours of engineering work so I can start enjoying my sports-centered weekend of football and hockey. What do you guys have planned this weekend?

Three Little Words.

Best thing happened to me last night… the boy whispered probably the greatest line I have ever heard in my life. We were walking out of the ice rink, in one arm he carried his hockey bag while the other arm was around me. He leaned down and whispered…
Yeah I am a little creepy. Totally googled it this morning to see if I could make a DIY project out of this phrase, when I found that photo. I am extremely cheesy, but him saying that couldn't have been delievered at a better time. I was kind of in a weird mood all night and stressed about my classes, but he brought me back down to the present. Any ideas how to capture this moment/phrase? Get creative girls!

Trick or Treat: Decorating Ideas.

I can’t help but wish time would move faster so I could celebrate Halloween! Most people love the costumes but honestly I am all about the decorations. I was at Joann Fabric’s last night picking up a few things for some DIY projects I am doing when I was drawn to the Martha Stewart’s Halloween section. I love love love her ideas. Next thing I know my phone was out and I called my 3 best girlfriends to meet me for a drink downtown. I called a meeting of the minds to start planning a Halloween party that no one will forget…or remember. Haha, so I am thinking classy decorations and food for nonclassy costumes... Sounds perfect!

Anyone have any good Halloween decoration ideas? Anything you HAVE to HAVE at a party? I need ideas, my lovely followers. Let me know what you are doing for the Halloween season.

So Much To Celebrate.

Well I am at work bright and early this morning even though I stayed up lateeee last night to watch my beloved Tigers take the series against the Yankees. Needless to say, I am still running on the high of winning... well that and Diet Coke.
Now I need to start planning out my weekend... {Hey, I have to have something to look forward to in order to get me through this workday.}
Tonight I am roadtripping to watch my brother's varsity football game. So this means a little pregame appetizers and drinks are in order. Good thing North Peak Brewing Company is right down the road from the stadium! So I will be meeting up with a few good friends and the family to try to calm the nerves of the night's game.
Picture from last week's Breast Cancer Awareness football game.
Finally my Saturday will be spent seeing the movie, Ides of March, starring two of the most beautiful men, Ryan Gosling and George Clooney. Part of the movie was filmed at Miami University, my alma mater, so of course I have to go see my school on the big screen! I have been counting down the days until its premiere, so the boy has been preparing himself for when I grab his arm during the movie and “whisper” {I don’t know how to whisper… I am a loud talker, especially when excited} to him “THAT’S MIAMI!”
That’s when you know you have a keeper is when the guy you are dating lets you scream “Miami!” every time the trailer comes on TV and for some reason doesn't get tired of it. I am just hoping the film lives up to all the hype...I’ll let you guys know how the movie turned out in a post later this weekend. Deal?
Last but certainly not least… it’s my little sister’s 21st birthday this weekend. That means the boy and I are packing our bags and headed north to the UP of Michigan to visit her at school. The game plan is we are surprising her… I am thinking I’ll just knock on her apartment door and just stand there with a bottle of Skinnygirl Margarita with a bow on it. I know she will love it and I can’t wait to share such a huge night with her. Missing her like crazy recently.
So that's quite a weekend, huh? I can't wait to spend it with the people I love the most.
What are your plans for the weekend? Anyone else have beautiful weather and are outside enjoying it as much as possible?

Happy Friday Everyone!

Keep Calm and Practice Yoga.

Well it’s safe to say that I am addicted to yoga and my new mantra is:

After years of loving Pilates and telling myself how I wouldn’t like slow-paced yoga, I am now just discovering how wrong I am. About two months ago I signed myself up for a Yoga class downtown where I live. I figured what a perfect way to get more flexible, work on my strength, and hopefully burn some calories… I never thought all of that would go out the window and instead be focusing on becoming a better person. The class has a lecture/notes section built into the program so you learn more about the practice of yoga and how it can improve your life.
I am more in sync with my body than ever. I feel like I have reset my body and mind. I had no idea that there were certain poses that would help your body detox more. Just little things like twisting out your sides to hold a pose can seriously help out your liver. {Trust me with the adult beverages I consume, my liver needs all the help it can get.} There are also restorative poses which help relax the nervous system and mind and help settle the body. {I need all the help I can get in that area!}
Most of all, I love the "me time" during yoga. Just rolling out my mat now immediately calms me down. My days as a full time student and working 30 hours a week are hectic to say the least but now I allow myself some time to get in a session and boom I can turn off my head and just be in the moment. Quite the feeling!
Anyone else practice yoga?
