Fall Loves.

#1. First and foremost, my Detroit Tigers are advancing to the World Series! I celebrated with a few Miller 64 dressed up in a Tigers' jersey coozie. Now that is team spirit.
#2. My apartment is now full of fall touches. My favorite is my kitchen table centerpiece. Love it.

#3. Making antipasto skewers last night. Thank you Pinterest... The boys inhaled these watching us clinch playoffs. So good. Cheese tortellini that were marinated in balsamic vinaigrette, pepperoni, black and green olives, salami, and mozzarella cheese. Perfect combination.
#4. I am hosting a Halloween party! My first grown-up costume party. I made up these invitations a few days ago and finally got them printed and handled out this weekend. 4 days left to pull it together.
#5. Hockey season as started! Mike's team had their first game in brand new orange jerseys and even warm-up jackets. Guess who else got one? This girl! I have never been so happy...
#6. My Halloween Julep box arrived yesterday. I got 3 nail polishes that are so beautiful which are a golden orange, bronzing brown, and a mossy green. Nail decals that are Halloween-themed, candy corn, and nail glitter! Too cool. I am still loving this company. They can do no wrong in my book. Definitely check them out!
A lot of things to love and help me get through the fact that its getting colder outside. I am loving this fall so far and all it has to offer. What are you guys loving this season?

I've Become a Julep Maven.

*This is not a sponsored post*

After a few emails, I finally bit the bullet and subscribed to become a Julep Maven...
I have tried Birchbox for the  majority of last year and I found myself feeling disappointed if I didn't receive any nail polish. I am quite addicted to changing my nail color twice once a week, so any new color would have made my day. Well then I found this company, Julep, that once a month they send you nail polishes and you get to preview them beforehand to make sure you want to buy that months' picks.

What? That is amazing!

I was completely blind-sided from how great the first package would be. I received this box on Friday (4 days after I ordered it) and everything I opened would be welcomed with a "yay!" No joke, my boyfriend watched me open it and said "so if I just buy you nail polish you'll stay happy forever?" My answer... "Umm, yes!"

So here's what I got:
A small Julep handled bag.
The nail polishes I received are (from left to right): Claire, Rose, Sasha, Emma, & Chelsea.
After taking their style quiz I was matched as a Boho Glam girl:
"An eternal romantic with an appreciation of beauty on a deeper level, you see your wardrobe as a creative drawing board. Your effortlessly elegant look pairs earthy neutral tones with fun, chic hues of turquoise, purple or orange."

Save to say I am all about it. I even ordered their extra Halloween box. Cannot wait for that baby to arrive on my doorstep.

I highly recommend you guys join. Here's the link. Also check the side of my blog for my referrel button that reads "I Am Boho Glame." Please say I sent you! (My code is 5660116) Anyone else out there a Julep Maven and loving it?!

Last Night's Pick-Me Ups.

After a strenuous day at the engineering office yesterday, I needed a few pick me ups. This came in the form of new nail polish, a new book, and a gallon of paint. Random, huh?
I originally went to purchase OPI’s “I Vant to be A-Lone Star” from the Texas line, because I have an outfit planned for a date this weekend that it would match perfectly. Of course, it’s impossible for me to buy just one color so I also picked up “I Mainely Eat Lobster” from the new OPI Touring America line. I am currently wearing this color now in order to brighten my boring workweek. I love it! I needed an orange/coral color in my collection so I couldn’t be happier.
Another purchase while shopping was Emily Griffin’s book, Something Blue. I have been on a roll lately with reading books this summer so after finishing Something Borrowed I knew this one was on my list. I have never had a summer when I read this much, but I found it’s the perfect way to unwind after a lonnnnng day at work.  So now I have pile of books to finish in the next few weeks and that will definitely keep me motivated.
As for the gallon of paint… I bought this storage bin at a thrift store for a dollar and I saw it’s potential right away. My mom just stared at me as I rattled off how all it needs is a fresh coat of paint, a DIY lid, and a bench cushion and BOOM you have a new bench that will be the perfect accessory to the back porch. She didn’t follow my logic.
But last night I bought the paint and picked up 2 different swatches of fabric. {Yeah, I am that indecisive}. So I got my hands dirty {pre-manicure} and painted the bin a crisp white. Ahh, I am in love. Cannot wait to make the bench seat for it... once I decide on which fabric to use for the cushion. So which one do you guys like more?

Help a Girl Out.

Hey girls… I want to know what your all-time and current favorite nail polishes colors are. I am making a nail polish organizer {post coming soon} and to celebrate I thought I would go pick up a few more bottles! Haha, I change my nail color at least once a week {lately it’s been every 4 days}, so I desperately need ideas/inspiration. I wear anything and everything... love darks and girlie pinks.
Let me know which ones should be a part staple of my growing collection!

Pop of Color.

So lately I have been wearing a lot of gold and oranges...and loving it. So I thought why not pick out some new fingernail polish to pull my outfits all together. Last night I picked up Essie’s “Peach Daiquiri” and gave myself a manicure. I also painted my ring finger on each hand with a touch of Rimmel London’s “Gold Silk” color. Now today my basic black dress looks great with a new pop of color on my nails. In a man-dominated field of work it’s fun to be girlie every once and awhile.
To accent my new gold-fever, I wore my favorite ring form Chico’s. Its obnoxiously big but I needed some bling! I want to take full advantage of this summer weather because here in Michigan, it could be snowing tomorrow with how fast the weather changes. {hope I didn't jinx myself!} But at least this nail polish will get me through the early work-week blues!

That's how it's done, sweetheart.

So after taking the longest shower of my life trying to scrap off dried paint and the smell of bug spray, I decided to have the rest of the night last night to just lounge with a movie and give myself a manicure. I picked up a bottle of Essie’s “Nice is Nice” last weekend and have been dying to use it. So I said goodbye to the silver shatter and hello to the simplistic yet stunning light purple color. Now my nails look soft and clean, that is until I pick up a paintbrush later on this weekend.
The movie of choice for the night was Country Strong. I received it from Netflix yesterday morning and I wanted to see it but I wasn’t overly excited or anything about it… Well I should have been! I am now planning on purchasing this movie SOON because I want to replay the scenes between Beau Hutton & Chiles Stanton {Garrett Hedlund & Leighton Meester} over and over again. Especially the “door scene at the hotel” between the two of them. Those of you that have seen the movie know what I am talking about {or refer to the quotes below}. Ohh, plus their duets were amazing. I think I am just obsessed with guys who sing with their love ones. But honestly I highly recommend seeing Country Strong.  It has a great storyline/plot and it yanks on almost every emotion.
Chiles Stanton:  Don’t make me say it.
Beau Hutton: Say what?
Chiles Stanton: You’re being very rude right now.
Beau Hutton: Tell me what you want.
Chiles Stanton: Nothing.
{They kiss.}
Better believe I am listening to the soundtrack on repeat throughout the workday today. So do you guys have any movies you have fallin’ in love with lately? I need to keep my Netflix queue filled with good ones!

Pop of Color.

What's the best way to shake the "Monday blues"? Well for me it's a new shade of fingernail polish. So this week's colors are OPI's Sparrow Me the Drama topped with Silver Shatter.

One of my best friends had an appointment to get her haircut and since I was accompanying her, I thought I'd get a manicure. After several minutes of standing in front of the polishes trying to decide, I picked these two colors to brighten up my usual dark/deep nailpolish colors. It turned out so funky and fun. How can this not get me through the work week?
To top it all off, I went on a movie date last night to see Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. I swear Johnny Depp can make anyone laugh with his humorous movie lines and awkward facial and body movements. In my opinion, I liked the previous three movies more than this one, but just like the others I was laughing so hard at times. I can't help but be a sucker for this series, its pure entertainment regardless of the storyline. {Random sidenote: at the very beginning when they show the Disney castle logo, I love that a pirate flag is flying on its highest pike and a mermaid jumps out of the water. I am obsessed with little details like this...which made me even more excited to see it... and the movie hadn't even started yet.} Ahh, I am a dork.

But hey, everyone needs a little Jack Sparrow in their lives... even if its only on your nails.

Pop of Color.

So its officially the beginning of the week which means one fantastic thing... I am allowed to change my fingernail polish! {If I didn't limit myself to one color a week, they would be a different color everyday.} The newest polish that has been added to my collection and currently residing on my nails is "Smooth Sailing" by Essie.
Safe to say... Its perfect.  The polish is a periwinkle blue with silver microglitter... I love how after two coats, its just as rich in color as the bottle implies. Funny thing is, I love it even more now that I am at work. Sounds weird but honestly as I type and work on my drawings, I can see flashes of purple, silver, and different shades of blue as my fingers move. I am usually drawn to nail colors that have some depth to it, and this bottle totally fits the bill. Plus its perfect after Memorial Day weekend. So goodbye hot pink from last week, and say hello to blue!

Pop of Color.

Well its a new week which means time for a new nail polish color. I really need to get some more hobbies or a new life if I obsess about which color my nails should be every week... but its fun and keeps me happy. My newest addition to my fingernail polish collection is OPI's La Paz-itively Hot and I am lovin' it.
Say hello to the color flavor of the week! Haha.

Pop of Color.

Last night, I got home from work was about to sit down and enjoy my new Netflix movie selections when I thought "I am going to go buy some new nail polish." I grabbed my sister {because I cannot make a decision as important as what color to get without someone else} and went shopping. After probably 20 minutes of debate, I picked Essie's "Turquoise and Caicos" and I couldn't be happier.

So far at work, I've gotten a lot of compliments. Its just fun to go from a pretty red color to BOOM a bold and bright turquoise. I have never purchased/worn anything like it so its definitely a good change!

Ideas for the next color? I seriously change it every other week. Its an addiction... help a girl out.

Finally 23.

Happy Earth Day to everyone... and Happy Birthday to me!
Last night my best friend Emily and I went out for drinks at my 2 favorite bars. Once it hit midnight  after a celebration of hugging and high-fiving, we ran out into the dance floor. It was a perfect way to celebrate because it was simple yet fun. Tonight while everyone is going green, my friends and I will be going pink and silver. Pictures of that to come later. In celebration of the theme, I couldn't help but kick it off right last night with a pink mindprobe drink and wearing a pink "birthday girl" ribbon.

This is probably going to sound crazy... But I never really learned how to do makeup. My morning routine required foundation, bronzer, mascara, and eyeliner. Nothing more, nothing less. Well I decided to just get in the car and drive to Cincinniti yesterday as a early birthday treat to myself. I went to Sephora and told them, "I want to learn how to apply eye shadows." I honestly feel like a whole new world has opened up to me. I had the best teacher... she was pacient with me and showed me step by step how to make an everyday look as well as a smokey eye. So now with the new skills, I have acquire I am going to see if I can put them into action for tonight's birthday celebration...
New purchases!!
I did stop at CVS to get my Maybelline Great Lash on the way home....
I swear by it and refuse to buy anything different!
Another birthday present I received from my local hair salon was the OPI nail polish, "The Color to Watch" from their Swiss Collection.

So this is the year of beauty supplies and a better me... I am now 23 & wear sassy makeup!
