Goodbye Lockout, Hello Hockey.

-My favorite sport is finally back!-
It has been a long and cold winter so far without the warmth and happiness that hockey brings me.
For the first time ever, I have joined a fantasy hockey league. I mean what else should I do? Its only a half a season so I gotta make the most of it. I am the only girl in the league with 19 other guys, which happen to be my boyfriend's teammates and our classmates from high school. Since I am the only girl, I thought I needed to play that up which resulted in me deciding to only draft good-looking/hot/sexy players. Ohh, and if you went to Miami University, my alma mater, you were an automatic pick. In other words, the drafting process was easy.

After plenty of homework and Internet-stalking.... Here's how my draft turned out:

John Tavares, Forward, New York Islanders
Tyler Seguin, Forward, Boston Bruins
Jordan Eberle, Forward, Edmonton Oilers
Gabriel Landeskog, Forward, Colorado Avalanche

Brian Boyle, Forward, New York Rangers
Shane Doan, Forward, Phoenix Coyotes
Cam Atkinson, Forward, Columbus Blue Jackets
Mike Fisher, Forward/Utility Player, Nashville Predators

Now for the best part... Defensemen:
Kris Letang, Defense, Pittsburgh Penguins**

Dan Boyle, Defense, San Jose Sharks
Alec Martinez, Defense, LA Kings
Brendan Smith, Defense, Detroit Red Wings
I dubbed my team, "The Dream-y Team" and hopefully we have a good season. I need to prove to the boys that attractiveness does in fact affect the game of hockey. Even if I lose, at least I get to see these gorgeous boys play all season.

Wish me luck. Any other fantasy-playing women out there?

Life Lately.

I thought I would update my blog with what I have been up to lately. Let's see... I have been wrapping Christmas presents like crazy. Everyone on my list this year is done and now all is left is pretty homemade wrapping touches.
All I want for Christmas is...

My next DIY project for this weekend is this:
I've been waking up to the best text messages from the boyfriend whose been away this week.
Tonight is one of my favorite hometown events... Downtown Open House. All the boutiques and shops downtown Petoskey stay open late and serve drinks/cocktails/appetizers to their shoppers. I just love how downtown looks all lit up and the sounds from the Petoskey High School Steel Drum Band as they play music in the middle of the street to make things festive.
Here's a video from last year's open house night:
Nothing like Christmas decorations and music to put you in the mood to bundle up in a huge coat and hat to venture downtown to shop, eat, drink, and be merry!

Any big plans for this weekend? Anything full of Christmas spirit?

Fall Loves.

#1. First and foremost, my Detroit Tigers are advancing to the World Series! I celebrated with a few Miller 64 dressed up in a Tigers' jersey coozie. Now that is team spirit.
#2. My apartment is now full of fall touches. My favorite is my kitchen table centerpiece. Love it.

#3. Making antipasto skewers last night. Thank you Pinterest... The boys inhaled these watching us clinch playoffs. So good. Cheese tortellini that were marinated in balsamic vinaigrette, pepperoni, black and green olives, salami, and mozzarella cheese. Perfect combination.
#4. I am hosting a Halloween party! My first grown-up costume party. I made up these invitations a few days ago and finally got them printed and handled out this weekend. 4 days left to pull it together.
#5. Hockey season as started! Mike's team had their first game in brand new orange jerseys and even warm-up jackets. Guess who else got one? This girl! I have never been so happy...
#6. My Halloween Julep box arrived yesterday. I got 3 nail polishes that are so beautiful which are a golden orange, bronzing brown, and a mossy green. Nail decals that are Halloween-themed, candy corn, and nail glitter! Too cool. I am still loving this company. They can do no wrong in my book. Definitely check them out!
A lot of things to love and help me get through the fact that its getting colder outside. I am loving this fall so far and all it has to offer. What are you guys loving this season?

Are You Ever Ever Ever Getting Back Together?

I am a huge hockey fanatic fan and this whole lockout is literally killing me. All we can do as fans is just sit and wait for one side to give into a contract. The commissioner (I refuse to say that man's name) already cancelled games and honestly its not looking too good for the remaining season.

But thanks to my fellow hockey-loving-people on YouTube, they have provided me videos to help cheer me up or at least allow me to bond over how stupid this lockout has become.

1. A girl spoofs Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" about being completely heartbroken. The video has hockey player cutouts and ice cream, pretty much describes how I feel 100%. She has become my hero.
"And I would be tossing back a million Gin and Sprites, til I thought I could take home a Jet... I couldn't."
2. Things You Won't Hear During the NHL Lockout.
These two guys are amazing. Just like the Sh!t Girls Say video, it details all the little sayings and beliefs that hockey fans all over the country won't be thinking or saying out loud...ever!
"Hockey jerseys make me look so frumpy, I hate them."
"Ugh, I miss stadium food."
"Hockey's too slow anyway, I prefer major league baseball."

So I am hoping to laugh my way through this depression... true, there is always college hockey, my boyfriend's league games, and ice cream. That's a pretty great combination, but I need to be spoiled and see some Red Wings action.

Doesn't help that my Red Wings' calendar in my office cubicle stares at me all day. Come on, NHL lets pull this together! I need a legit hockey fix.
If you guys hear any good news or spot videos that will cheer me up (seriously they don't have to be hockey-related), please send them this way! Anyone else upset about the lockout?

HBO's Hottest & Funniest.

Lately I have been addicted to HBO’s 24/7 hockey series, Flyers vs. Rangers: Road to the Winter Classic. I cannot get enough! It got so bad that in-between episodes I would watch last season’s Penguins vs. Capitals series just to fill the time until next week’s episode would premiere. It is such a phenomenal show due to the fact it illustrates my favorite sport in such a great light and for some crazy reason you really end up lusting loving players whom you should hate! Seems unfair! I am a die-hard Red Wings fan and now I am finding myself cheering for certain {hot} individuals on other teams. Not okay. {My boyfriend is very upset by my betrayal.}
From this show I have become obsessed with New York Ranger's Brian Boyle.

He is very attractive; however, what makes things even better is this clip from their annual Christmas party. I still can’t stop laughing as he yells “SANTA! I KNOW HIM!” Gotta love a little Elf movie moment brought to life:
Hope you have enjoyed this little hockey-related {go figure} post with some great eye candy. How can you not laugh at hot hockey players dressed outrageously. And if you haven't seen this show, definitely give it a go! You will not be disappointed!
Has any of my followers seen this amazing show? Or has fallen in love with "the enemy"? I want to know.

My December in Pictures.

It's officially the week of Christmas... where did time go? This month had sooo much in store and although I feel like I am missing out or forgetting something, in reality its been going pretty smoothly and on track. That's probably why... things are just too perfect. So here's a few pictures of what I have been up to lately.

I have already attended my work Christmas party... such a good time!
Me & the Boy
The "Family Portrait" with Jordan added in.
My parents.
Tonight is the last men's league hockey game before Christmas break... hockey will resume again the second week of January. Hopefully my hockey withdrawal won't be too depressing. Good thing I am plan on still hanging out with these boys over the holiday:

Boyfriend
Best friend, B {in the blue}
Now its onto conquering the rest of my Christmas list... I have a ton of DIY projects to complete for a few of my love ones, so be looking forward to those posts. My favorite thing in the world... homemade personalized gifts! In the meantime, I can't believe I am saying this but... I want snow. Last Saturday it looked like this downtown:

now the snow is gone. So sad. I need snow to feel festive so it can start snowing again!

So how is everyone's December going? Fast or slow? Busy or ideal? I want to know!
